1. Brave Browser
– Private Browsing by Default
Why it matters: Mainstream browsers track your activity and hand your data over to advertisers. Brave blocks ads and trackers automatically, speeds up your browsing, and gives you built-in privacy controls.
Setup:
Install Brave on your device (search “Brave Browser” in your app store).
In Settings → Shields, set tracker blocking to “Aggressive.”Change the default search engine to DuckDuckGo or Startpage.Optional: Enable “HTTPS Everywhere” in settings for extra security.

2. Proton Mail
– Secure, Encrypted Email
Why it matters: Email is a major target for data collection and surveillance. Proton Mail encrypts your messages and is based in Switzerland, outside Australian and US data laws.

Visit proton.me and create a free account.

– Encrypt Your Internet Traffic
Why it matters: A VPN masks your IP address and encrypts all your internet traffic, making it harder for ISPs, advertisers, and attackers to track you.

Free Option: Cloudflare WARP (1.1.1.1) — simple and fast.
Paid Option: Mullvad or ProtonVPN — strong privacy policies, no ID required, crypto-friendly payment.
Install your chosen VPN.Enable auto-connect on startup.Choose a server location outside Australia for additional privacy.

4. Session
– Australian-Made, Anonymous, Encrypted Messaging
Why it matters: Most messengers require a phone number, tying chats to your identity. Session doesn’t — it’s encrypted, decentralised, stores no metadata, and it’s proudly developed in Australia.
